This calculator estimates total buffet food and per-dish quantities using UK catering guidelines.

Formula

  • Savoury food = 225g per person (midpoint of 200-250g guideline)
  • Sweet food = 100g per person
  • Total food = effective adults x 325g
  • Per dish = total food / number of dishes
  • Sandwiches = effective adults x 3.5
  • Children = 60% of adult portions
