How many invitations do I need?

You need one invitation per household, not per person. A couple gets one invite, a family gets one invite. Count your households/couples/singles/families, then add 10-15% spares for mistakes, keepsakes, and last-minute additions.

Why do I need spare invitations?

Spares cover printing errors, last-minute guest additions, and keepsakes. For weddings, extra invitations are handy for framing. Ordering 15% extra is cheaper than placing a second print order later, especially for custom designs.

Should families get one invitation or separate ones?

One invitation per family household is standard. Address it to the whole family or list parents and children by name. Adult children living separately should receive their own invitation. If in doubt, ask the family what they would prefer.

How many guests does each invitation represent?

Singles = 1 guest. Couples = 2 guests. Families average 3-4 guests (2 adults + 1-2 children). This calculator uses an average of 3.5 per family. Adjust your catering and seating based on the total guest estimate, not invite count.
