On average, 70-80% of guests use a photo booth at least once. Many return for multiple visits. Younger crowds and wedding guests tend to have higher usage rates (85%+). For shorter events, participation drops to around 60%.

The backdrop should be at least 200cm wide to fit groups of 3-4 people. The calculator widens it to 250cm for events over 100 guests and 300cm over 200 guests, since busier booths see bigger group shots. Height should be at least 200cm. Fabric or sequin backdrops work well; flower walls are popular but more expensive.

Plan for at least 20-30 props for a medium event — the calculator works to roughly 0.3 props per guest and treats your entered count as a minimum. Include a mix of hats, glasses, moustaches on sticks, speech bubbles and themed items. Replace broken or worn props during the event. Sturdy props on wooden sticks last longer than flimsy ones.

UK photo booth hire runs around £150-300 per hour, or £350-900 for a typical 3-4 hour package, with magic mirror and 360 booths at the higher end. The estimate here prices hired booths per hour (with a 2-3 hour minimum) plus prints at about £0.25 each and props at about £0.50 each. A DIY self-setup is consumables only. Always confirm the final quote with your supplier as prices vary by region and date.

The standard event printer (DNP DS-RX1HS) yields 700 4×6 prints per media roll, or about 1,400 photo strips per roll because each 4×6 sheet is cut into two 2×6 strips. For most parties a single roll is plenty, but carrying a spare avoids running dry mid-event. The printer runs at roughly 290 prints per hour, comfortably ahead of one booth’s throughput.
